Pfeiffer Vacuum has added to its HiLobe series of intelligent Roots pumps, designed for diverse applications in the low and medium vacuum range, including electron beam welding, vacuum furnaces and freeze drying.

HiLobe Roots pumps are for rapid evacuations, such as lock chambers or leak detection systems and for general coating applications. They have individual speed control and can be adapted to specific requirements.

Compact Roots pumps can handle wide nominal pumping speeds up to 6,200 m³/h and have a powerful drive concept which achieves around 20% shorter downtime than conventional Roots pumps. The HiLobe series offers more than 50% reduction in maintenance and energy costs due to energy-efficient drives that already meet the future IE4 energy efficiency class.

The pumps also have optimised rotor geometries and are hermetically sealed from the atmosphere with a maximum integral leak rate of 1 · 10-6 Pa m³/s. With dynamic seals eliminated, maintenance is only required every four years. Cost-intensive water cooling is unnecessary as the pumps can also be operated at ambient temperatures of up to +40 °C using flexible air cooling.
