KSB gets €50mn nuclear pump order in China

The KSB pumps will be installed in two new nuclear power station units being built on the southern Chinese island of Hainan. All of the 16 pumps included in the order will be manufactured in Germany by the end of 2012. The reactor coolant pumps will then be fitted with additional technical components and tested in Shanghai.

Last year KSB set up a joint venture in China – SEC KSB Nuclear Pumps & Valves Co Ltd – to serve China’s expanding nuclear power plant base. The joint venture is currently building a production facility with a test field in Lingang near Shanghai. From the end of 2010, 125 employees will initially build and test pumps for use in China’s nuclear power stations. A range of valves will be added later.
