Hidrostal replaces in-tank propeller mixers

A wastewater treatment plant has substituted its in-tank propeller mixers for Hidrostal’s HidroMix external mixing pump sets, resulting in elimination of static and moving parts within the tank.

An important stage in the wastewater treatment process is to keep the solids in suspension in the sludge holding tanks, usually managed using in-tank propeller mixers. This method of mixing means that solids can build up in the tanks and had resulted in a periodic shut down in the wastewater treatment plant to dig out the accumulated solids.

Hidrostal supplied two of its E08R standard mixers with bearing frame pumps on mounted baseplates to replace the propeller mixers.  The HidroMix system has an external mixing capability which uses a simple system of pumped recirculation and requires no structural steelwork within the tank.  The system is mounted at ground level and fixed to the outside of the chamber, ensuring accessiblilty for installation, inspection and maintenance.  Large diameter nozzles are installed externally through the tank walls for minimal friction losses with maximum energy imparted to the fluid.
