The firm was honoured with the Swedish Innovation Prize for its Flygt SmartRun intelligent pump controller, beating 120 other entrants in the competition organised by business magazine, Veckans Affärer.
Working in tandem with its Flygt Experior wastewater pumping apparatus, Xylem claims SmartRun can reduce a wastewater pump station’s energy usage by up to 50 %.
SmartRun is designed to find the most energy-efficient pump speed for a specific application, as well as featuring an automatic blockage removal function. All functions are pre-programmed to eliminate costly engineering work for each pump station start-up.
