Lister Petter technology cuts potable water drilling costs

Launched at the Middle East Electricity Show in Dubai, the new Lister Petter technology will reduce the cost of drilling new boreholes by using the same shaft to drill and map multiple aquifers.

With the new technology, the practise of boring four or five holes before potable water is found becomes unnecessary. As each aquifer is reached the water is tested, the aquifer resealed and the drilling continues. Conventional methods of drilling require a new hole to be drilled to prevent cross contamination.

Through the mapping of aquifers, the Lister Petter technology also allows better water management and reduces the risk of upper aquifers being exhausted.
