Claimed by manufacturers Raritan to be simpler and cleaner than knob pumping, lever handle pumping results in a more powerful flushing action. Constructed from Celcon-engineered plastic, its low friction makes for easier pumping. The double-action piston pump simultaneously draws new flush water as it discharges the wastewater. The PHII and PHC manual toilets are equipped with quarter-turn dry pump valves and O-ring seals. An air vent reduces back pressure for trouble-free pumping in the 'dry' position. Utilizing precision ground rubber balls, the raw water inlet and outlet valves can lift incoming flush water 121 cm. Standard and household-size bowls are available for both models.
