Tsurumi sets up rental operation in France

Tsurumi Pompes Location SAS’s (TPL) has opened its first depot in Strasbourg and will be headed up by Gaetan Beaulieu.

The Japanese company has been present in the French market for many years through its subsidiary CE2A – Tsurumi France. With TPL, the company will serve customers’ distribution and rental requirements directly.

To support its operation and growth in France, Tsurumi (Europe) GmbH has also acquired a majority stake in Marine Motors & Pumps NV (MMPumps), its Belgian distributor.

MMPumps will continue to run the business, selling and renting pumps for the Belgian market. The company will also become indirectly involved in the French rental market through cross-renting pumps to TPL.

“The French dewatering pump rental market is a major area where we see the main submersible pump players,” said Beaulieu. “Now is the perfect time for Tsurumi to establish its own rental operations to cover unreached rental customers and capitalize on growing market potential.”

“Availability is everything,” said Daniel Weippert, Tsurumi (Europe) GmbH, chairman of MMPumps and president of TPL. “We are very excited to be able to make our pumps available to customers in France – not only by existing stock outlets in our dealer network, but also by direct rental, even for special applications. At the same time, our new rental operation in France aims to strengthen existing relationships to equipment rental companies by giving them the opportunity to rent larger and special pumps at short notice.”

“We have had a strong relationship with Tsurumi over the last 40 years and this development will strengthen our position in the market and serve customers directly,” said MMPumps managing director Johan Dekker.
