Wilo acquires US pump companies Weil and Scot

The three companies, which together employ around 140 people, have their headquarters and production facilities in Cedarburg, Wisconsin, USA.

“The aim of this company acquisition is to increase our regional presence and to accelerate our development of the North American market. This transaction represents an important step forward in the implementation of our intensified globalization strategy,” said Wilo CEO Oliver Hermes.

Eric Lachambre, member of the Wilo SE executive board and responsible for Mature Markets, added: “We shall also be able to increase our application expertise and strengthen our US activities in the market segments of Building Services and Industry.”

Weil specialises in the manufacture of wastewater pumps, while Scot focuses on the OEM end suction pump market for the plastics, agricultural and chemical industries. Scot also has a branch office in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, which manufactures special-purpose marine pumps for the shipbuilding industry. The Karak Machine Corp serves Weil and Scot as a manufacturer of essential pump components.

Wilo says that the acquired production facilities will help it to meet customer requirements in the US market promptly and efficiently and also to offer a broader spectrum of “made in USA” products.

“We are very pleased to have succeeded in finalizing this acquisition after a long and intensive period of preparation and look forward very much to our collaboration with the acquired companies and their integration into the Wilo Group,” said Mathias Weyers, chief financial officer at Wilo SE.
