Government speaker at MDS conference

A late addition to the speaker line-up at the forthcoming Motor Driven Systems Conference (8 November at St Johns Hotel, Solihull UK) has just been announced.

James Chapman of the Energy Efficiency Deployment Office (EEDO), which is a directorate set up earlier this year within the Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC), will address the conference.

James is now working in strategy & delivery within EEDO and is undertaking a project to identify possible policy frameworks to realise energy efficiency potential in pumps & motors across UK industry.

His presentation will introduce EEDO and outline its reasons for creation in alignment with the Coalition Government’s Energy Efficiency Directive.

The ‘Energy Efficiency Strategy’ will be published by the end of this year and will provide strategic direction for energy efficiency across all sectors. It sets out what Government is doing, and what more it will do, against the ‘barriers’ to increasing energy efficiency in the UK.

The presentation will also address the work on pumps & motors policy options that EEDO is currently undertaking.

James joins other policy makers from both the UK and EU in highlighting the important issue of reduced energy consumption within motor driven systems, including the key product areas of pumps, fans, compressors, drives and controls.
