Grundfos pumps save Birds Eye £9K annually

Grundfos has reported a successful outcome at one of the UK's most iconic food names - helping it to save over £9,500 annually.

Birds Eye, the frozen food producer, was established over a century ago, and today has four factories, producing 120,000 tons of premium branded frozen products that it is estimated are enjoyed by 4.2 million people in the UK on an average day. The services of the Grundfos Energy team were called upon to investigate three pumps that were causing process issues due to high running and maintenance costs. Following on-site investigations, Grundfos provided an energy check report that enabled the food label customer to make an informed decision about replacing the pumps. Selected replacements were members of the high efficiency Grundfos CRiE family that will deliver savings of 107,835kWh/yr. which equates to £9,705 saving. 'So impressed were the estates staff with these results, that they requested a further Grundfos pump audit on some old pumps that they had no duty or running data for,' a statement from Grundfos reported. 'This audit clearly demonstrated the benefits of replacement, as it showed system to be 82% inefficient. By upgrading to a Grundfos Hydro MPC-E booster they now save £12,262 per year, plus benefit from improved performance and a stable system.'
