Matthew Hill, director of Obart Pumps, has recently developed a training course for staff of companies that operate a hire fleet of Tsurumi pumps.

The course, which took place recently in Glasgow over the course of five days, was intended for individuals in workshops of tool and plant hire companies, with or without workshop experience.

Although the course focused on those companies that operate a hire fleet of Tsurumi pumps, the knowledge gained can be applied to other brands.

The course helped participants to understand and identify causes of wear and damage, carry out routine maintenance and repairs, salvage used parts, select new parts, PAT test correctly and troubleshoot on site.

On completion of the course, attendees were able to operate, manage and maintain a reliable hire fleet of 110-volt submersible pumps up to the motor size of 0.75kW. Each session finished with a live demonstration by Matthew in the workshop, where he inspected, dismantled and reassembled hire-fleet pumps brought in by participants.

Matthew plans to roll out the training nationwide, benefiting owners of Tsurumi pumps on their hire fleets across the UK.
