Sulzer has opened a new service centre in Balikpapan, Indonesia to serve customers in the oil & gas, mining, power and general industries.

Offering a range of services for electric motors, compressors, pumps and steam turbines, the new Balikpapan Service Center is equipped to maintain and repair all types of small to medium-sized rotating machinery.

“The new service centre offers excellent turnaround times and will provide local support for our customers,” said Agus Susena, head of Rotating Equipment Services SE Asia for Sulzer. “This combined with the vast wealth of skilled human resources and young talented graduate engineers opens up further opportunities for Sulzer to capture some of this valuable wealth of local talent.”

Sulzer’s investment in this new facility includes training experienced local engineers to operate the new machinery, such as the balancing equipment, winding tools and machining tools.

Balikpapan is Sulzer’s 20th service facility in the Asia-Pacific region. Sulzer’s network of service centres gives Indonesian customers access to service solutions for even the largest rotating equipment. Initial assessments can be made by engineers in Balikpapan, for example, and any repairs can be completed at the larger service centre in Purwakarta.

Sulzer recently opened new service centres in Pasadena, Texas and in Semenyih, Malaysia
