Ebara Vietnam Pump Co Ltd (EVPC) has delivered nine energy saving pumps (three intake and six distribution) to a filtration plant operated by a public water supply company in Da Nang, Vietnam.

The pumps were produced in the new EVPC plant which opened in May last year. The new plant provides integrated production systems from casting production to pump assembly and testing, in addition to the production of large pumps and pumps with diverse specifications.

Ebara has had a branch office in Vietnam for more than 20 years and has provided more than 1000 pumps for agriculture, irrigation, water supply and sewerage systems, flood counter measures and other applications.

The upgrade of the filtration plant’s existing pumps to highly efficient units is the first venture involving Da Nang and the Yokohama City Y-PORT project.

Y-PORT (Yokohama Partnership of Resources and Technologies) is an international technical cooperation project based on public-private partnership that harnesses the Japanese City of Yokohama’s technology and resources in order to help resolve urban issues in emerging countries, and supports overseas business expansion for companies.

The pump upgrade has also been approved for facility assistance in the FY2017 Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) financial support project operated by Japan’s Ministry of the Environment. The new Ebara pumps are expected to reduce the power consumption by about 2 million kWh annually.
