Ohio Transmission Corporation makes another acquisition

Ohio Transmission Corporation (OTC) has acquired Pumps, Parts and Service Inc (PP&S), an industrial pump and repair business in the southeastern United States.

OTC recently expanded its pump, filtration, service and fabrication business with the acquisition of Furey Filter & Pump Inc and its subsidiary PSI Engineering LLC.

Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, PP&S was established in 1980 by Ray Miller as a two-person sales office representing just one pump manufacturer. The company is now a regional distributor of rotating and process equipment serving industrial, municipal and energy markets. PP&S’s multi-state, multi-brand distributorship includes regional sales and service centres that cover Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.

Philip Derrow, president and CEO of OTC, said they have known of PP&S for more than 30 years as a fellow Flowserve distributor.

“PP&S has always been well-respected in its markets and the company has continued to improve its market position by providing exceptional service to customers over the years,” said Derrow. “The addition of the PP&S team to the OTC family will provide even better service and greater capabilities to all of our customers and will provide new opportunities for our associates.”

PP&S will become a division of OTP Industrial Solutions, which provides technical sales and service for industrial automation, motion control, fluid power, pumps, spray finishing, sealant and adhesive application and power transmission systems and products. PP&S will continue to operate under its current name and with local management, including Miller, who will lead the team through an orderly transition, and his business partner, Mike Dysart, general manager of the environmental division.

With this acquisition, OTC now has 44 locations throughout the South, Southeast, Midwest and Northeast regions, along with 21 service shops. The addition of PP&S associates expands OTC’s workforce to about 1100 employees.

OTC recently expanded its pump, filtration, service and fabrication business with the acquisition of Furey Filter & Pump Inc and its subsidiary PSI Engineering LLC. Together, the two companies employ 65 people in Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Earlier this year US private equity firm Genstar Capital acquired OTC from Irving Place Capital, in partnership with management.
