Is Europe ready?

A major news story, although hardly news as this has been brewing for years, is that  the first phase of the Energy Related Products Directive (ERPD)2009/125/EC legislation will comes into effect from 1st January 2013

From this date pumps within scope will need to meet a Mean Efficiency Index of - 0.1 ( 10% Cut off) . As the story in our news pages relates in effect what this means is that 10% of the pumps within the scope and data collection will no longer be able to be sold unless manufacturers improve their hydraulic efficiency to take them to or above an MEI of 0.1.

How ready do you think the European pump industry is? And how well do you think the industries ordering pumps in this range understand if what they are ordering meet the new efficiency standards?
