Level of deterioration of the pumps in the housing sector of Russia is amounted to 80%

Vladislav Vorotnikov writes:

Deterioration of pumping systems as well as other equipment in housing area today reached record level of 80% - 90%, has recently announced Acting Governor of the Moscow region, Andrei Vorobyov. According to him, this situation leads to extremely inefficient work of the whole housing systems, as well as extremely irrational spending of electricity.

Basing on these estimations Andrei Vorobyov called for urgent modernization of pumping equipment. The relevant program in the Moscow region is currently under development. However, a similar situation in the opinion of experts is observed not only in the Moscow region of Russia, but also in other regions of the country – here the deterioration of pumps working in the housing sector ranges from 40% to 90%.

According to government estimates in Russia today an update of housing sector requires about RUB9trln (US$300bn), of which a large part has to be spent at the purchasing an installation of new pumps. However, as commented in the Office of Housing of the Voronezh region the problem is not just about money.

"In order to update systems and install new pumps we need specialists. We could spend money to purchase good foreign pumps, but we do not have staff for their installation and follow-up support - it significantly complicates the process of modernization" - noted in the Office of Housing.
