ALSHE VAP from Alfa Laval is configured so that one stream is in spiral flow while the other flows across it, in parallel to its axis. The spiral flow channel generally accommodates the heating medium while the cross flow channel is dedicated to the fluid to be vapourised or boiled. This imaginative design ensures that the unit can handle high liquid velocities in the closed, spiral channel and, on the boiling side, the large cross-flow area with a relatively low physical height, makes the unit ideal for operation at low pressure or under vacuum.

There are currently four models in the ALSHE VAP range providing the ability to handle temperatures up to a maximum of 3000C, a minimum of -1000C and design pressures of up to 8 bar g. They complement the established ranges of standard units (for liquid to liquid duties and condensing) and Alfa Laval’s custom-designed units for duties involving pressures above 8 bar g or for applications involving aggressive products which demand the use of exotic materials in the construction.
