Businesses support motor conference

The Motor Driven Systems (MDS) Conference, which takes place from 9-10 November 2011 in Solihull, West Midlands, will involve five of the UK’s leading trade who will be debating how to improve energy efficiency.

WEG Electric Motors, Siemens Industry Automation and Drive Technologies and emb-papst have also agreed to be Headline Sponsors of the MDS Conference.

“The majority of applications using motors are either air movement (fans), pumps and compressors and with new legislation coming in to effect from June 2011 for increased efficiency of electric motors it is vital that the message is transmitted to the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and end user,” said Marek Lukaszczyk, European Marketing Manager of WEG Electric Motors (UK) Ltd.

With electric motors and motor driven systems in industry and commerce, together with pumps, fans and compressors, reportedly comprising 40% of the world’s total electricity consumption, the industry has decided to act in order to seek methods and systems of achieving greater energy efficiencies.

The MDS Conference will be of interest to industry decision makers, financial heads, energy managers, plant engineers and facilities managers within the manufacturing and process industries as well as building services and other key sectors where pumps, compressed air, motors, drives, controls and fans have a part to play.

“A major conference encompassing fans, pumps, compressed air, drives and motors is long overdue in the UK, said Geoff Lockwood, technical director, ebm-papst UK Ltd.
