India’s EKKI Pumps and Germany’s HOMA Pumpenfabrik GmbH are investing in a new plant in Coimbatore, India as part of their joint venture.

The new factory will manufacture parts for HOMA’s global production lines and also produce wastewater pumps for India and neighbouring markets.

The new plant will be EKKI’s fourth factory in Coimbatore, with production expected to start in six months. HOMA, a privately-held family-owned group, already has factories in Germany, France, the Netherlands and Ireland.

The German Consul General in Chennai Karin Stoll recently visited EKKI HOMA in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

“EKKI HOMA is a true successful Indo-German partnership of how two family-owned mittelstand companies can work together,” said Stoll. “It’s a matter of transferring decades of experience and expertise in the waste water pump manufacturing. It requires a lot of experience, high tech culture, investments and a long-term business plan.”

Kanishka Arumugam, chief executive of EKKI HOMA Pvt Ltd, said: “With major investment in manufacturing capacity in Germany and India, both EKKI and HOMA are very well placed to grow our business in the future.”

EKKI says that this was a long-term win-win situation given the complementary and conflict-free nature of the partners in brand positioning, market presence and product plans.
