Khrone says that the meter is now suitable for the chemical industry and can measure highly aggressive or corrosive fluids.
Tantalum is generally considered impervious to most fluids, making it ideal for the flow meter. The meter has similar chemical resistance as glass, and is typically used with chemicals such as hydrochloric, sulphuric, nitric, and phosphoric acids, or bromine and chlorine. The Tantalum OPTIMASS 7300’s design is therefore suitable for the safe and reliable measurement of fluids that require glass lined piping or glass lined process vessels.
The Tantalum used by KROHNE is an alloy called Tantalum Ta10W, which has 10% tungsten, providing the additional tensile strength required to handle the stresses associated with straight tube technology.
