The new subsidiary, PIAB Vacuum Technology Pte Ltd, will support distribution networks and provide training and technical support for distributors and customers. Operations at the new office will officially begin in June.
PIAB says that it has served Indian customers through distributors for more than 15 years. The company adds that growth in manufacturing in the region has led to increasing demand for its vacuum solutions, which provide energy-efficiency and productivity benefits. This resulted in the decision to open an office in India.
PIAB’s Chennai subsidiary will primarily service chemical, pharmaceutical and automotive companies, providing automation solutions for automotive manufacturers and vacuum conveying solutions for food, pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturers. The new office will also work closely with the current distribution network to provide the Indian market with access to PIAB’s entire product portfolio for the consumer food, packaging, printing, electronics and woodworking industries.
Mr. Jayaparkash Veluchamy will leave PIAB Singapore to assume the leadership role at PIAB’s Chennai subsidiary.
“PIAB has seen a steady increase in demand throughout emerging markets such as China, India and Latin America,” said Per-Erik Lindquist, chief executive officer. “To meet this demand, PIAB has expanded its presence within these regions. We already have a strong presence in both China and Latin America. As we expect India to achieve 20 percent growth in sales in the next five years, it made sense to establish a local office so we can better serve customers and distributors.”
