A former CEO of MAN Diesel and Turbo, Stahlmann, 51, has also served as managing director of NSK’s European Bearing Business Unit and CEO of the pump manufacturer Allweiler.

Commenting on Stahlmann’s appointment, Jürgen Dormann, chairman of the Sulzer board said: “He brings comprehensive knowledge and a broad understanding of many of our key markets to his new position. Klaus Stahlmann has also demonstrated excellent leadership skills in global businesses in challenging market situations. After a thorough analysis, the Sulzer board of directors is convinced that Klaus Stahlmann fulfills Sulzer’s high requirements regarding integrity and compliance.”

Stahlmann takes over as Sulzer CEO on 22 February 2012. Jürgen Brandt, who has been serving as Sulzer ad interim CEO since November 2011 following Ton Buechner’s departure, remains Sulzer chief financial officer.
