The Water Environment Federation (WEF) has announced details of the health and safety measures that will be in place for those attending WEFTEC 2021, which is taking place in Chicago from 16–20 October.
Every individual who participates in WEFTEC 2021 will be required to comply with the following protocols:
- Provide proof they are either fully vaccinated against Covid-19 or have obtained a negative Covid-19 test result within 48-hours of arriving at registration to pick up their badge to gain entry to the conference and exhibition.
- Wear a well-fitting, properly positioned face mask when visiting the exhibition, attending sessions and meetings, riding shuttle buses, and engaging with other participants at WEFTEC functions.
Following the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC’s) guidance, people are considered “fully vaccinated” either two weeks after they receive their second dose in a two-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or two weeks after they receive their single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine. If you do not meet these requirements, regardless of your age, you are not considered to be fully vaccinated.
WEFTEC participants will be asked to upload images of health authority-issued vaccination records to a secure portal or bring proof of a negative Covid test to be verified on site. Everyone is strongly encouraged to upload proof of vaccination in advance of arriving at McCormick Place in Chicago. No one will be allowed to pick up registration materials or participate in the event without this verification or a negative test result.
