A new product range launched by Xylem Water Solutions UK will help facilities’ managers harness a building’s water systems to increase fire prevention capabilities.

The Lowara GEM series and the Hydroquench 3000MK2 are two examples of Xylem’s latest sprinkler system solutions. Part of an integrated system, both the GEM and Hydroquench can be easily connected to a break tank or a mains water supply.

The pump, sprinkler heads and controls all come as one item, allowing the GEM or Hydroquench to be easily fitted to both new-builds and existing buildings. The systems need three connections to function: suction pipes, discharge pipes, and an electrical supply. They also have automated controls, which can test the functionality of the system, reduce the likelihood of dry-runs or overheating, and prevent the sprinklers from activating unnecessarily.

The GEM and Hydroquench systems are controlled by an intuitive control panel, which provides automatic self-test cycles on a monthly basis, and volt-free alarm contact. Both pumps are designed to handle high flows and pressures of up to 16 Bar. The Lowara GEM series complies with EN12845 standards and the Hydroquench conforms to EN 12259-12 and BS9251 standards.
