First Quarter 2023

Grundfos adds to Water Treatment Solutions platform

MECO, a Grundfos company, has acquired San Diego, California-based Water Works Inc to strengthen its ultrapure water treatment portfolio for life science and biopharmaceutical customers.

Water Works designs, engineers, and installs ultrapure industrial water systems for Life Science businesses and other high tech industries in California.


Another acquisition for Holland Pump

Specialty pump rental and dewatering solutions provider Holland Pump Co acquired BPR Pumping & Vacuum Solutions, a pump rental business based in Texas, USA. This is Holland Pump’s sixth acquisition since partnering with XPV Water Partners.

BPR Pumping & Vacuum Solutions adds branches in the Houston and Austin, Texas areas, as well as complementary rental equipment to Holland Pump's existing pump fleet, as well as a complete dewatering services offering. The acquisition increases Holland Pump's capabilities to service municipal, infrastructure, industrial, and mining projects in Texas.


Dutch flow technology company joins Indutrade

Sweden's Indutrade bought the Dutch trading company Siersema Komponenten Service BV (SKS).

Waalwijk-based SKS specialises in process components, including valves, tubes, pumps, filters and heat exchangers, for the food & beverage and pharmaceutical process industries. Products are sold primarily to customers in the Benelux markets. The company has annual sales of approximately €35 million and 50 employees.


Atlas Copco to acquire Korean cryopump service provider and distributor

Atlas Copco agreed to acquire the cryopump service and distribution business of South Korea’s Zeus Co Ltd.

The business provides service and sales distribution for Atlas Copco’s Vacuum Technique business area’s CTI and Polycold products in South Korea. The CTI and Polycold products are cryogenic vacuum pumps and refrigeration systems used in semiconductor manufacturing and general vacuum applications.


Standex completes sale of Procon Pumps

Standex International Corp closed the sale of its Procon Pumps business to Investindustrial, a European investment and advisory group.

Procon is a global supplier of niche positive displacement rotary vane and gear pumps to OEMs, distributors and end-use customers.

Investindustrial’s portfolio of companies includes CEME Group, which manufactures solenoid pumps, rotary pumps and solenoid valves in Italy and around the world.


Unibloc acquires UK CNC machining services company

Pump manufacturer Unibloc Hygienic Technologies (UHT) acquired Metaltech Precision Engineers Ltd, a UK-based CNC machining services provider.

The acquisition of Metaltech will allow UHT to further vertically integrate its supply chain, shortening product lead times and adding capacity to support global growth.

Founded in 1976, Metaltech is a precision engineering and CNC machining services vendor to the hygienic flow control sector. UHT is one of Metaltech’s largest customers, and the two businesses have worked together for more than 20 years. Metaltech already provides machining for a wide range of UHT’s hygienic pumps that serve the food, beverage, bakery/confection, meat and poultry, brewery, pharmaceutical and transportation markets globally.

Svanehøj expands its pump service business with US acquisition

The Danish marine pump specialist Svanehøj acquired Complete Cryogenic Services (CCS), a specialist in the service and overhaul of submerged pumps on LNG tankers.


Atlas Copco to buy Australian dewatering services provider

Atlas Copco is buying National Pump & Energy (NPE), a business that offers dewatering, environmental services and water treatment solutions in Australia and New Zealand.

NPE provides specialty environmental services and water treatment solutions for large and complex dewatering and sewage bypass projects. Main customer segments include infrastructure construction and municipalities. The company is also specialized in dewatering solutions for mining connected to metals needed in electrification.


Krones to acquire Ampco Pumps

German machinery manufacturer Krones Group signed an agreement to acquire 90% of Ampco Pumps Company LLC, a Wisconsin, USA-based supplier of sanitary pumps and applied products like mixing and blending equipment to the food, beverage, dairy processing, personal care and pharmaceuticals markets. The company has been providing centrifugal and positive displacement pumps worldwide for more than 70 years. In 2022, Ampco Pumps generated revenue of approximately US$50 million with a workforce of more than 130 employees.


PumpMan buys Colorado Water Well

PumpMan Holdings LLC has completed the acquisition of Colorado Water Well, a pump service and repair company serving the commercial, industrial, water well and residential water and wastewater markets in the greater Denver, Colorado region.


Florida Pumping Solutions acquires American Sock & Dewatering

Thompson Pump distributor Florida Pumping Solutions (FPS) is expanding its services with the acquisition of American Sock & Dewatering, a socking company in Northern Florida.


Celeros Flow Technology to sell Filtration business

Celeros Flow Technology entered into a definitive agreement to sell its Filtration business unit to the UK-headquartered private equity firm Px3 Partners. When the deal closes, Celeros Flow Technology intends to accelerate the strategic transformation of its flow control solutions, which includes pumps, valves and closures, through reinvestment in the business, its employees, and strategic acquisitions.


Wateralia acquires Caprari Trading

Ambienta SGR SpA’s Wateralia platform acquired Italian water pump distributors Linea Ricambi and Bergomi Trading, combined under the name Caprari Trading. Headquartered in Modena, Linea Ricambi has more than 20 years of experience in spare parts and service management for water pumps, while Bergomi Trading is a distributor of Caprari pumps. Caprari Trading is Ambienta’s third acquisition under its buy-and-build platform strategy in the water pumps sector. Ambienta acquired Caprari in February 2021 and Calpeda in July 2022, rebranding the combined group as Wateralia.


Xylem acquires Evoqua in US$7.5bn deal

Xylem Inc completed its acquisition of Evoqua Water Technologies Corp in an all-stock transaction valued at approximately US$7.5 billion.


Nordson expands into precision agriculture market with ARAG acquisition

Nordson Corp entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Italian agriculture fluid management company ARAG Group in an all-cash transaction valued at €960 million. ARAG makes precision control systems and smart fluid components for agricultural spraying, including pumps.

Ebara to acquire SKF’s Spandau Pumpen

Ebara Corp’s Ebara Pumps Europe SpA (EPE) reached an agreement with SKF Lubrication Systems Germany GmbH to acquire its coolant pump business Spandau Pumpen.

Germany-based Spandau Pumpen makes screw-type and seal-less coolant pumps for machine tools.

By taking over the business, Ebara is aiming to enter the global market for machine tools and further expand its business by providing new products and services. Ebara plans to transfer production to EPE in Italy, and work on developing new customers worldwide.


Grundfos buys UK smart sewer solutions company Metasphere

Grundfos acquired Metasphere, a UK-based provider of telemetry and analytics solutions for water networks, from XPV Water Partners.

Metasphere provides smart network management solutions to the global utility industry. One of its key offerings is the ART Sewer integrated solution, which provides hardware and analytics software for the prediction and prevention of sewer network overflows.


Duoning Biotech agrees to purchase Chinese peristaltic pump producer PreFluid

Duoning Biotechnology Co Ltd, through Shanghai Duoning Yuexi Biological Technology Co Ltd, has signed an agreement to acquire Chinese peristaltic pump manufacturer Changzhou PreFluid Technology Co Ltd.

PreFluid's peristaltic pumps are used in medical, pharmaceutical, chemical and environmental industries worldwide. Founded in 2007, PreFluid has a 10,000 sq m factory in Changzhou that combines lean production with automatic and manual assembly.


Hayward Tyler acquires Slack & Parr assets from administration

Avingtrans plc’s Hayward Tyler Fluid Handling Limited has acquired certain assets of the UK’s Slack & Parr Limited from administration, together with the company’s subsidiaries in the USA and Asia for a total consideration of £4.9 million.

Slack & Parr is a manufacturer of specialist pumps and a supplier of high-precision gear metering pumps, hydraulics flow dividers and industrial pumps to customers around the world. Founded in 1917, Slack & Parr operates from a 64,000 sq ft state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Kegworth, Derbyshire, UK. The business also has facilities in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA and Shanghai, China.


Waterco to acquire Australia’s Davey Water Products

Australian water treatment and pool equipment manufacturer Waterco Limited is acquiring Davey Water Products from GUD Holdings Limited in a A$64.9 million deal.

Established in 1934, Davey offers water solutions, including pumps and filters, for homes and gardens, farms and irrigation, pools and spas, building service, fire protection, commercial irrigation, wastewater removal and water treatment.

Davey has a 2,700 sq m manufacturing plant in Scoresby, Victoria, and a 4,700 sq m raw materials warehouse. The company also has a large research and development team in Australia involved in engineering and product development with a strong focus on water scarcity, energy efficiency, and smart connected products.


Ceco Environmental acquires Kemco Systems

Ceco Environmental Corp has acquired Kemco Systems Co LLC, a Florida-based company that specializes in the design, manufacturing and support of custom-engineered industrial water recycling and energy conservation solutions for North American industrial markets.

The Kemco acquisition enhances Ceco's North American presence, adding new energy conservation and water recycling solutions, and expanding the addressable market into new high-value food processing, commercial laundry, and ready-mix concrete markets.


Finish Thompson buys Penguin Pumps

Finish Thompson Inc has acquired southern California-based Penguin Pumps Inc, parent company of Filter Pump Industries.

Penguin Pumps is a 24-person company that manufactures corrosion-resistant pumps, mixers, filter systems, and filter chambers primarily used in the surface finishing, chemical processing, and chemical manufacturing industries.


PumpMan expands in US Midwest with acquisition of Flo-Systems

PumpMan has acquired Flo-Systems Inc, a Troy, Illinois-based provider of water, wastewater collection, treatment, distribution and repair services to municipal, industrial and residential properties in the St Louis, Missouri area in the US.

Ingersoll Rand buys Canadian pump service and repair business

Ingersoll Rand Inc has completed the acquisition of Canada’s Fraserwoods Fabrication and Machining Ltd.


Celeros Flow Technology completes the sale of its Filtration business

Celeros Flow Technology has sold its Filtration business unit to the London-headquartered private equity firm PX3 Partners.


KRR closes Circor acquisition

Investment firm KKR has completed its acquisition of Circor International Inc, the parent company of pump brands Allweiler, Houttuin, Imo, Tushaco, Warren Pumps and Zenith.


Andritz to acquire Flowserve’s NAF valve business

Andritz has signed an agreement with Flowserve Corporation to acquire its NAF AB valve business.


ITT to acquire Danish pump supplier Svanehøj in US$395mn deal

ITT Inc has signed an agreement to acquire Svanehøj Group A/S for approximately US$395 million.


DXP Enterprises buys Missouri-based pump sales, service and repair company

DXP Enterprises Inc has acquired Alliance Pump & Mechanical Service Inc, a municipal and industrial pump sales, service, and repair company based in Independence, Missouri, USA.


Graham Corp expands in turobomachinery with acquisition of P3 Technologies

Graham Corporation has acquired P3 Technologies LLC, a custom turbomachinery engineering, product development and manufacturing business for the space, new energy and medical markets.


Core & Main to acquire Lee Supply Company

Core & Main Inc has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire substantially all of the assets of Lee Supply Company Inc, a specialty distributor and fabricator of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe, fittings, pumps, pipe systems and related services, including HDPE fusion equipment rentals and custom fabrication capabilities.


Atlas Copco to add Kracht to growing industrial pump portfolio

Atlas Copco Group has agreed to acquire Kracht GmbH, the German manufacturer of external gear pumps, fluid measurement, valves, hydraulic drives, and dosing systems.


Harrington Process Solutions buys PumpMan

US distributor Harrington Process Solutions has bought PumpMan, a provider of onsite maintenance, repair and replacement for all components in water and wastewater pumping systems.


Atlas Copco completes the acquisition of Australia’s Sykes Group

Atlas Copco Group has finalized its acquisition of Sykes Group Pty Ltd from Seven Group Holdings Ltd (SGH).


Wilo strengthens presence in Canada

Wilo Canada Inc has acquired the assets of Plad Equipment Ltd, a Montreal- and Quebec City-based company specialising in pumps and packaged pump systems for HVAC, boosting, firefighting, and irrigation applications.


Timken acquires engineered sealing products specialist Lagersmit

The Timken Company, a leader in engineered bearings and industrial motion products, has acquired Lagersmit, a Netherlands-based manufacturer of highly engineered sealing solutions for demanding marine, dredging, water, tidal energy and other industrial applications.


Franklin Electric acquires US groundwater distribution company

Franklin Electric Co Inc’s wholly owned subsidiary Headwater Companies LLC has acquired substantially all of the assets of LCA Pump LLC, which operates groundwater distributor Water Works Pump.
